Man charged with murder of Eastwood butcher

POLICE have charged a 27-year-old man with murder following the death of Rotherham butcher Parvaiz Iqbal.

Naeem Mehmood, of Herringthorpe Valley Road, has been charged with murder and appeared at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Mehmood was arrested following the death of Mr Iqbal, who was found at his Halal butchers on Grosvenor Road, Eastwood, shortly after 2pm on Tuesday, along with a 40-year-old man who had been seriously injured and remains in a stable condition in hospital.

A post mortem examination carried out on Wednesday revealed that Mr Iqbal had died as a result of multiple stab injuries.

Mehmood was remanded in custody and will appear at Sheffield Crown Court on November 1.
