Inquest told of steelman's death

AN INQUEST has re-opened into the death of a steelworker who is believed to have suffered a serious head injury while working.

Stuart Stead (49), of Hawthorne Crescent, Mexborough, was working at HI Quality Steel Castings on Forncett Street, Sheffield, when the incident happened on March 7, 2012.

He was working as a fitter and foundry worker on the night shift which started at around 7pm.

Emergency services attended the scene and Mr Stead was pronounced dead at just after 11pm.

A jury inquest has resumed at the Medico Legal Centre in Sheffield today.

South Yorkshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive launched an investigation into his death.
