Police seek Kimberworth woman who alerted man to house fire

DETECTIVES are seeking a woman who alerted residents to a house fire in Kimberworth.

Officers would like to speak with an elderly woman who kicked and banged on the door of the burning house on The Motte.

Det Con Steve Robinson said: “The fire broke out sometime between 9.20pm and 9.30pm on Thursday, April 21.

“The woman repeatedly banged on the front door to try and alert the man inside, giving him enough time to get out.

“The fire caused extensive damage to the house and we do believe it was started deliberately.

“We are keen to speak to the woman mentioned, not only to say thank you for what she did, but also to ask if she has any further information.

“Likewise, I’d like to ask people to cast their minds back and think about whether they saw anyone acting suspiciously.”

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident 188 of April 22.
