Police hunt driver after Whiston teenager left fighting for life

A 17-year-old motorcyclist was left with fight for life after a collision involving a car.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened at the Nursery Drive junction with New Brinsworth Road, Catcliffe, at around 1.45pm on Thursday.

A police spokesman said that the teenager, from Whiston, was pulling out of Nursery Drive on his blue Peugeot XPS CT motorcycle when it was in collision with a black Volkswagen Golf travelling along New Brinsworth Road, towards Brinsworth.

 

The spokesman said: “The rider of the motorcycle landed on the road and sustained injuries to his head, leg and arm.

“His condition is described as life threatening. He was taken to Northern General Hospital.”

“The driver of the Volkswagen, a 21-year-old man from Brinsworth, Rotherham, was not hurt.

“A 23-year-old woman also from Brinsworth who was travelling in the Volkswagen suffered minor cuts.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 496 of March 22.
