Plane tested in Rotherham showcased at US airshow
AN AEROBATIC plane was tested in Rotherham ahead of its slot at the world’s biggest airshow in the US this week (22-26).
The GB1 Gamebird, developed in Lincolnshire and worth $399,000, headed to Wisconsin from the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.
The two-seater plane was the first of its kind to have a full airworthiness test in the UK for more than 30 years.

Hide AdPhil Spiers, AMRC head of advanced structural testing, said: “It’s been a privilege to be involved in proving the safety, security and integrity of this aircraft.
“Now that we have re-established this country’s capability to carry out the full range of airworthiness tests we hope other designers will chose to have their testing done here.”
The annual EAA AirVenture airshow is attended by more than 550,000 enthusiasts from 80 countries.
