Pioneer robot in action at Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre

A FUTURISTIC robot arm believed to be the first of its kind in the UK is pictured hard at work in a Rotherham research centre.

The upgraded fibre placement machine will cut waste and allow complex parts to be produced without human intervention.

The robot is among high-tech kit moving to the new Composite Centre at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.

Manager Richard Scaife said: “This equipment greatly increases the range and flexibility of the resources available for the manufacture of complex high-fidelity composite parts.”

President Robert Langone said: “The centre is always at the leading edge of innovation in our industry, and knowing that our machines help make that happen is rewarding for the entire team.”

The Composite Centre moved from the original AMRC building to the new extension at the Factory of the Future.
