Runners in the pink for Rotherham's Race for Life

HUNDREDS of pink-clad women hit the track at Herringthorpe playing fields to take part Rotherham's sixth Race for Life.

Organised in aid of Cancer Research UK, the run is expected to raise £171,000, which will go towards an estimated £80 million for the charity raised by similar events throughout the country.

Many of the women who took part wore fancy dress had friends or relatives affected by the disease.

The 5k run was won by 16-year-old Fiona Bell, of the Hallamshire Harriers.
