Respect candidate disowns 'fake' election leaflet
POLICE are investigating an alleged bogus leaflet purporting to come from the Respect Party as it campaigns in the Rotherham by-election.
Respect candidate Yvonne Ridley has disowned the leaflet.
She said: “Police informed me that somebody has been putting out a Respect leaflet without the legally-required imprint on it.
“The leaflet wants to portray Respect as an Islamic party, which it is not.
“There are many things in it which we would never say.”

Hide AdThe Labour Party has written to the returning officer and the police asking them to look into claims in the leaflet.
They have also written to George Galloway and Ms Ridley asking them to withdraw the claims and distance themselves from the statements.
