Millers community sports trust staff will run Rotherham 10K this weekend

STAFF from a community sports trust will take part in what is expected to be one of the biggest organised runs in South Yorkshire to raise money for an “amazing” local charity.

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust employees will join runners from around the region taking to the streets for the Rotherham 10K on Sunday in aid of Age UK Rotherham.

Jamie Noble, head of community at RUCST, said: “Age UK Rotherham are an amazing charity that benefits a number of our participants, and we recognise that the work they do for our older community is life-changing.”

Barbara Dinsdale, chief executive officer from Age UK Rotherham, thanked the trust, adding: “As a charity, we rely on donations and fundraising to maintain the work we do for older people across the borough, helping them to live a healthy, happy and fulfilled life in their later years.”

With the pandemic preventing any events in either 2020 or 2021, the Rotherham 10k returned last year and raised £2,000 for Age UK Rotherham. In total, the race has now topped more than £18,000 for the local charity.

The Rotherham 10k will take place at Clifton Park, starting at 10am.

Organisers are still encouraging people to sign up in the 10k and the children’s one-mile Fun Run in the park, as well as the Corporate Cup Challenge, by visiting www.rotherham10k.com.
