Esme hair grown back yet?

A KIND-HEARTED eight-year-old has proved her older sister is no cut above — after following her sibling’s lead and donating her long locks to a children’s charity.

Esme Harker was inspired to chop off her hair for the Little Princess Trust after seeing sister Ruby (12) do so at ages six and ten, raising hundreds of pounds for the charity both times.

Now younger sibling Esme has raised more than £900 for Little Princess Trust, which provides free real hair wigs to young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions.

Esme, whose nickname is Pumpkin and lives in Flanderwell, said: “I know that some children have to have medicine that makes all their hair fall out or they have diseases that means their hair doesn’t grow.

“I hope my hair will make someone feel happy.”

Mum Sally (40) said she and husband David (43) were “very, very proud” of both children.

“They are both very different personalities and characters, but they both wanted to do this for other children,” she said.

“Ruby said the first time she did it ‘my hair will grow back, other people’s won’t’ and it did — and then she cut it again and donated more money.

“At the moment, Esme quite likes wearing her hair short, as she can wear it down at school but she may decide to do the same as her sister again a few years — watch this space!”
