Pensioner warned after violence erupts in bingo bust-up

ROTHERHAM Council has pledged to keep taking strong action on anti-social behaviour after a punch-up at a pensioners’ bingo evening.

Police had to be called to the Dawson Croft sheltered housing complex, in Greasbrough, last week after a woman in her 60s punched another player because she had yelled “house!” too early.

The attacker was given a tenancy warning about her future conduct by the council, which has now promised to deal with such incidents swiftly.

A council spokesman said: “The incident has been investigated and immediate tenancy enforcement action has been taken against the perpetrator.

“We take these matters extremely seriously and will always take strong and proportionate action against perpetrators, as well as doing all we can to support the victims of anti-social behaviour.”
