New arrest over Wath doorstep shooting

POLICE have arrested a second man in connection with the attempted murder of a man from Wath.

The 29-year-old man, from Thurnscoe, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the shooting of Tyrone Woodhead (42) after officers located him in Southport, Merseyside, last Thursday.

This arrest comes after Nathan Wingfield (22) was charged with attempted murder — in connection with the same offence — at Rotherham Magistrates Court on September 29.

Wingfield, of no fixed abode, was also charged with aggravated burglary in relation to a separate incident.

Both men have been remanded in custody.

Tyrone Woodhead was shot on the doorstep of his Doncaster Road home on September 20.

Mr Woodhead remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital after being shot once in the upper body as he answered his front door.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact South Yorkshire Police by dialling 101, quoting incident 1146 of September 20.
