Murder investigation after body found on moor

DERBYSHIRE police have opened a murder investigation after the body of a Rotherham man was found on moorland.

A MURDER investigation has been launched after the body of a Rotherham man was found on moorland.

The 34-year-old was discovered at 11am on Monday, August 22 at Woodhead Tunnels off the A628.

After a post-mortem examination on Tuesday, officers from Derbyshire Constabulary are treating the man’s death as suspicious and have launched a murder enquiry.

Det Chief Insp Mick Cooper, who is leading the investigation, said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who saw a vehicle, or anyone acting suspiciously, on the slip road off the A628 or the car park near Woodhead Tunnels at any time between 7am on Saturday, August 20 and 11am on Monday, August 22.”

Police search teams are continuing to examine the scene and other enquiries are continuing.
