MP backs ‘shop local’ campaign

A CAMPAIGN to encourage people to shop locally has been backed by Don Valley MP Caroline Flint.

She is supporting Small Business Saturday on December 6.

The initiative aims to promote small businesses in local communities.

Ms Flint wants businesses in the Dearne Valley to take part and shoppers to back them.

She said: “Our small shops and independent businesses are vital to the towns and villages in outlying parts of the borough.

“They are a vital part of our local economy and we need to get behind them.

“In many towns and villages, small businesses add character and are a source of local jobs.
