Mountain rescue comes to aid of climber who fell from a crag

Emergency services descended to Levitthagg Woods near Sprotbrough on Saturday

A CLIMBER need treatment from emergency services after he fell from a cliff edge while free-climbing. 

Woodhead Mountain Rescue team came to the rescue of a man at 2.30pm on Saturday (March 18) after he fell from a crag at Levitthagg Woods near Sprotbrough while not using any aids for climbing.

The man had sustained a number of injuries with crews from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Hazardous Area Response team members and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue on hand to help him.

WMRT team members were able to help by providing additional rope rescue kit and volunteers to assist with the rescue.

The injured man was handed over to paramedics and taken to hospital.
