Mosque youth club a great success

THE first youth club to be set up in a Rotherham mosque has been hailed a “roaring success”.

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust (RUCST) has been running the sessions at Ridge Road mosque for the last ten weeks.

It was formed after the club invited the youngsters to have a tour of the New York Stadium.

Mark Cummins, community manager, said: “The youth club at Ridge Road has been a roaring success, we have been made to feel incredibly welcome in what is a fantastic space for the community.

“I am sure this is the first youth club in Rotherham to take place within a mosque and, judging by the positive feedback we have received, it certainly won’t be the last.

“The challenge for us now is to spread the project and work across more of the mosques with girls and adult work already in the pipeline.”
