More than 500 jobs up for grabs at careers fair

HUNDREDS of jobs will be on offer at a huge careers fair next week.

Jobcentre Plus has teamed up with Rotherham Borough Council, Rotherham Industrial Development Office and Mears Group to launch the annual LEAF event (Local Employment and Advisory Forum) at Magna on Monday.

The event will be split into two sessions - the morning will see year nine school pupils gain information and advice from local employers.

While the afternoon session - from 12.30pm until 3.30pm - is open to anyone looking for work and will give them the chance to meet employers and apply for their vacancies on the day. 

There will be around 65 companies exhibiting with more than 500 vacancies including: IKEA, Aldi Distribution Centre, Carlton Park Hotel, XPO and Transline (for ASOS), Toyoda Gosei, Rotherham Borough Council, Caremark, Aardvark Swift, First Buses, Lifetime Homecare, Human Business Services, Alcontrol Laboratories, Rotherham Hospice and New York Bakery.

Nigel Coleman, from Jobcentre Plus, said: “This is a great opportunity for jobseekers in Rotherham and I would encourage anyone looking for work to come along and see the range of opportunities available.

"Following the huge success of last year’s event where we had more than 1,000 people through the door, we are hoping that this year’s will be just as successful – if not more so.”
