Meet the Advertiser’s first ‘Christmas Heroes’

MEET Mohammed Usman, Mollie Spensley and Chelsie Wildgoose — the first of our Christmas heroes.

The trio are among a wealth of volunteers sorting and packing shoeboxes to send to under-privileged kids under the Operation Christmas Child initiative, and were snapped by our photographer at the appeal’s HQ at Talbot Lane Church in Rotherham town centre.

The Advertiser will be shining the spotlight over the next few weeks on the people who help make Christmas a bit more special — especially for those who are in most need of some festive cheer.

Mollie, Mohammed, Chelsie and their fellow volunteers have packed dozens of large cardboard boxes with shoeboxes full of toiletries and treats for children in need.

They are not the only ones giving their time this Christmas, though, as we know dozens of Rotherham’s big-hearted residents will be doing their bit.

We know who many of them are — but we would love our readers’ help in identifying even more.

Do you know a Christmas hero we should be toasting on our pages, someone who truly goes the extra mile every December or is making a special effort this year?
