Man rescued after arson attack on flats
A MAN was rescued from a first floor flat after an arson attack yesterday (Tuesday).
Firefighters were called to reports of a resident trapped at The Maltings, Canklow, at 9.30pm.
Control room staff gave survival guidance over the phone until crews had put out the blaze, which was in the ground floor entrance and blocked the escape route.
A fire service spokesman said: “Firefighters quickly put the fire out and then led the man to safety. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.”
