M1 and M18 closed after crash involving three cars and a lorry

The southbound carriageway of the M1 is closed between junction 33 at Catcliffe and junction 31 at Aston because of the crash between three cars and a lorry.

The accident has also led to the closure of the M18 southbound between junction one for Bramley and junction 32 of the M1 at Thurcroft.

A fire service spokesman said three appliances were called to the scene at around 7.35am and it is understood the air ambulance has been called to the scene.

Motorists have been told to expect lengthy delays.
