Laura Wilson 'died of stab wounds'

TEENAGE mum Laura Wilson was stabbed to death, a postmortem has revealed.

Laura (17), mum to a four-month-old baby girl, was found dead in the South Yorkshire Navigation Canal near Steel Street, Rotherham, last Tuesday after being reported missing by relatives the previous Saturday.

A 17-year-old youth was arrested on suspicion of assault, then re-arrested on suspicion of murder and three men—aged 44, 26 and 22, all from the local area—were also arrested on suspicion of murder over the course of three days.

All four—who have not been named—have now been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Detectives said a post mortem examination found Laura, from Holmes, had died from stab injuries.

Det Supt Mick Mason, the officer leading the murder investigation, has appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

“I'm keen for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity around Steel Street in Rotherham, particularly between the evening of Saturday October 9 and the afternoon of Tuesday October 12 to come forward,” he said.
