Labour councillor delighted to win re-selection for Mexborough

MEXBOROUGH councillor David Holland has been re-selected as the ward’s Labour candidate for next year’s election.

Cllr Holland — who has been heavily involved in plans to regenerate the High Street - was chosen at the Mexborough branch selection meeting on Monday (2).

Ken Barron, chairman of the branch, said: “David has done a tremendous job in the last four years and the branch had no hesitation in selecting him to stand again.

“I’m confident he’s the right man to take Mexborough forward.”

Before Cllr Holland was elected in 2010, Mexborough had been a Liberal seat for ten years.

The town is currently represented by three Labour councillors.

Cllr Holland, who is also Northern Regional Officer of the National Association of Stable Staff, said he was “delighted” to have been selected.

“I very much enjoy helping people which is something I’ve done all my adult life, both professionally and as a councillor,” he added.

“Mexborough people are the salt of the earth and I would love to continue to represent them on Doncaster Council.”
