Jobs in jeopardy at Manvers food distribution depot

NEARLY 170 Dearne Valley jobs are under threat after national food supply company hit financial trouble.

Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery LLP were appointed as joint administrators of DBC Foodservice Limited yesterday.

Staff were told that the business, which employs 982 people at 12 locations across the UK, was up for sale last week but were stunned when the administrators moved in.

Russell Cash, from restructuring and recovery partner and joint administrator Baker Tilly, said he was hopeful that DBC would be saved.

DBC was founded as the Danish Bacon Company in 1902 and expanded to supply a variety of foods to retailers and the catering industry in the 1990s.

The firm, based in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, opened its Manvers depot in 2000.
