Hunt on for best businesses

THE hunt is on for South Yorkshire's best companies after entries were opened for this year’s Barnsley & Rotherham Business Awards.

This year’s ceremony will be compéred by television presenter Harry Gration at Magna on Friday, October 22, with the cream of the crop doing battle for ten prestigious prizes, including the much-coveted Business of the Year trophy. 

The competition is intensified this year by the merging of the previously separate ceremonies in Barnsley and Rotherham into one event.

Entries are now being accepted in the following award categories:

qNew Start.

qBusiness Growth.

qInvest in Skills.

qBusiness in Partnership with the Community.

qExcellence in Manufacturing.

qInnovation in Retail.

qInnovation in Business.

qEmployee of the Year.

qEnvironmental.

qHealth in the Workplace.

qBusiness of the Year.

The ceremony is planned and delivered by Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce. 

The Chamber's Chief Executive John Lewis said: “This year's awards ceremony will be our biggest yet, with both Barnsley and Rotherham companies—plus Chamber members from elsewhere in South Yorkshire— battling for the awards on offer.

“With a wide range of award categories, businesses of all sizes and sectors will be rewarded for their many successes, which are even more noteworthy given the economic difficulties of the past two years. 

“Companies can download an entry form from the Chamber website—www.brchamber.co.uk—and we look forward to giving our judges a tough test in choosing the winners.”

The contribution of well-established companies to the business community will also be marked in the Salute to Business section of the ceremony.  Businesses celebrating 25, 50, 75 or 100 years' trading in either Barnsley or Rotherham should e-mail [email protected] for more information.
