PDR director John White said: “UK business is good for discount retailers such as Aldi, and we are benefiting from their expansion plans thanks to our track record of delivering successful projects for them.”

This will be PDR's 12th Aldi project, following work for them in Grimsby, Sheffield, Willerby and refurbishments with Darlington south region.

Planning permission was granted for the Rotherham store last January.

Aldi also has plans for new stores in Dinnington and Mexborough as shoppers continue to flock to discount supermarkets during the economic downturn.

In addition, PDR has also started this week with a £500k enabling package at Aldi

Pocklington, near York.
