HS2 information event to be held in Aston

PEOPLE living in Aston can find out more about the planned changes to the HS2 high-speed rail route at an information event today (Tuesday).

Representatives from HS2 Ltd — the firm behind the project — will be at Aston Parish Council Village Hall, Rosegarth Avenue, from 12.30pm until 8pm.

The planned changes to the route would see it cut through Parklands Riding School, on Worksop Road, and right next to Aston Hall Cricket Club.

The A57 Aston Bypass would also need to be realigned to allow the rail route to be built.

A spokesman for HS2 said: “The new proposals would see the HS2 mainline move from its previously consulted route to around 40 miles further east.

“Come along to talk to our experts about the new route proposals before we launch the formal consultation on the route in the autumn.”
