Housing project passed with legal agreement in place

A £500,000 legal agreement has been signed as part of a 197-house development project at Kiveton Park.

Strata Homes’ proposals for land north of Kiveton Community Woodland were approved at the second time of asking by Rotherham’s planning board in October last year.

Earlier proposals — dismissed by the same board four months earlier — had been criticised for a lack of detail on ecology and traffic matters.

Now a Section 106 has been agreed between the developer and RMBC, including £384,433 for education provision in the area and £98,500 towards encouraging “sustainable travel”.

Another £30,000 will go towards improvements to the children’s play area at the parish council recreation ground off Wales Road.
