House blaze among weekend fire calls

THE first floor of a house in Clifton was well alight when fire crews arrived.

They were called at 2am on Sunday to a blaze in an end terrace property on Wellgate Terrace.

It had been reported that people were inside but there were no reports of injuries, a South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said.

Fire crews from Rotherham and Parkway stations were at the scene for about an hour.

There was a fire in the computer server room at Garnett Dickinson in Manvers at 9.15pm on Saturday.

Crews from Dearne and Rotherham stations were at the print firm for 90 minutes, mostly to ventilate the building.

Deliberate fires over the weekend included a car blaze at Brookside, Swinton, at 2am on Monday and a rubbish fire on Athelstane Road in Conisbrough at midnight on Saturday.

Crews also attended a BMW estate on fire at Pleasley Road in Whiston at 9.30pm on Saturday. No cause was recorded.
