Hotel evacuated after blaze in cellar

A HOTEL was evacuated on Saturday night after a drinks chiller caught fire.

The Fitzwilliam Arms on Taylors Lane was evacuated for one-and-a-half hours from around 11.15pm.

Fire crews from Rotherham, Elm Lane and Parkway fire stations entered the building wearing breathing apparatus to search for the source of the fire which was found to be the cellar.

The cellar was heavily smoke-logged but the fire was quickly put out using a hose reel.

Fire officers then used specialist ventilation equipment to clear the smoke.

No-one was hurt in the incident.
