Hold-up in Julie Gallagher murder trial

THE trial of the ex-husband of stabbing victim Julie Gallagher was postponed this week after the judge fell ill.

George William Gallagher (55), of Eldon Road, Eastwood, was due be tried by a jury at Sheffield Crown Court, with the case supposed to begin this morning.

But the start of the trial has been postponed until Wednesday after Judge Rafferty became unwell.

Julie was last seen alive at around 1.15am on Thursday, March 24, as she left the Cranworth Public House in nearby Fitzwilliam Road.

Her body was found at a property at Foljambe Road, Eastwood, on March 27.
