Have your say on Rotherham's bus cuts

SOUTH Yorkshire mayor Oliver Coppard is holding public meetings in areas badly affected by bus cuts.

Mr Coppard and other leaders in the region have criticised the government for giving the area a fraction of the funding received in other areas.

Meetings will take place at Montgomery Hall Theatre, Wath, Thursday 7 from 1pm to 3pm; at the Fitzwilliam Arms Hotel at Parkgate, on Monday from 6pm to 8pm; and at Maltby’s Catholic WMC on Millindale, on Friday October 6, from noon to 2pm.

Mr Coppard said: “I’m doing everything I can to get the government to give us a fair funding deal, because bus services are vital.

“Not just for our economy, so we can see our families, get to school or to work, but as a means of allowing people to access opportunity wherever it might be. That is even more true when we are facing a climate crisis. We should be investing in buses.”
