Have a say over the future of Dalton's Trinity church

A CONSULTATION event will be held over the future of a church which fell into disrepair because of Covid closures and a lack of funding.

It was hoped that an open day at Holy Trinity in Dalton in late 2021 would revive community fundraising efforts to repair the roof and drive.

But dwindling numbers among the parochial church council has seen control over the church handed back to the Diocese of Sheffield.

An open meeting to consult on the future of the building will be held at 6pm next Wednesday, September 13, at 6pm at Trinity Croft Primary Academy.

Cllr Michael Bennett-Sylvester, Dalton & Thrybergh ward member on RMBC, said: “Like many in the community, Holy Trinity means a lot to me.

“My eldest daughter was christened there, my first marriage blessed there, and it is where I started attending church on my way to being confirmed.

“I would encourage anybody with an interest in the church to attend, listen and contribute their thoughts.”
