Grief-stricken school pupils say farewell to moped crash victim

HUNDREDS of school pupils gathered to say a final farewell to a 16-year-old who was killed in a moped collision.

The youngsters from Aston Academy gathered at the school’s gates yesterday (14) afternoon as the hearse carrying the coffin of Joshua Taylor passed on-route to a funeral service at Aston-cum-Aughton's All Saints Church.

Joshua, of Hepworth Road, Swallownest, died on April 17 after a collision on Mansfield Road, Swallownest — just yards from his home.

More than 2,000 people have now signed a petition calling for a lower speed limit on the busy stretch of road.

Last Friday (8), Aston Academy youngsters paid tribute to Joshua with a dance presentation at the school’s annual Celebration and Awards evening.
