Goodbye to ‘Our Superman’

FRIENDS and family teamed up with rugby star Lewis Moody to pay tribute to the teenager they dubbed “our Superman”.

The England hero paid his respects alongside more than 500 mourners at the funeral of 16-year-old Joss Rowley, who died last month after a long battle with cancer.

Lewis befriended the promising athlete and rugby player after holding a training session for the teenager and his rugby team last year.

The Wickersley Comprehensive pupil met many celebrities during the final year of his life, including Top Gear racing driver the Stig and comedians Rhod Gilbert and John Bishop.

Joss was diagnosed with tumours in his chest, pelvis and spine in January last year. The youngster had appeared to be responding well to treatment but his condition worsened this year and he died at home in Lymington Lane, Treeton, last month surrounded by his family.
