Girl (10) badly hurt in Dinnington crash

A ten-year-old girl has been left with life-threatening injuries after she was involved in a collision while attempting to cross a busy road.

The youngster was sustained a fractured skull and a broken left arm and leg in the collision on Nursery Road, Dinnington, just before 1pm yesterday (19).

Issuing an appeal for information, a police spokesman said: “A blue Volvo S60 was travelling on Nursery Road towards North Anston when it collided with the girl 20 metres from the junction with Park Avenue.

Police believe two children, including the injured ten-year-old, attempted to cross Nursery Road, stepped back onto the pavement before the girl stepped into the carriageway in front of the Volvo.”

The ten-year-old girl was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital from the scene.

She remains in hospital with injuries described as “life threatening.”

The driver of the Volvo, a 40-year-old woman, was not injured in the incident.

 

Witnesses to the collision are being urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 0114 220 2020 quoting incident number 401 of 19/4/11.
