FREEDOM PARADE: 3,000 greet soldiers on Rotherham march

OVER 3,000 people lined the streets today as Rotherham's young soldiers came home for their freedom march.

Over a hundred of the Yorkshire Regiment's bravest men paraded through All Saints’ Square in celebration of being awarded the Freedom of The Borough last year.

Scores of friends, family and the general public lined the streets to welcome the men, many of whom have recently arrived back from duty in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

The celebrations came five days after the regiment was presented with their four sets of new regimental colours from The Duke of York at Imphal Barracks in York last Friday.
