Food scheme’s TV joy

A ROTHERHAM food donation project says it has been inundated with offers of support after being on national TV last night.

The Advertiser reported earlier this year on how Food Aware, which has a packing plant in Hellaby, has been holding sessions at Clifton School to teach children that food past its Best Before date may still be fine to eat.

Footage from a cookery class held by Food Aware chief Sean Gibbons and featuring radio DJ Toby Foster was shown on the BBC’s Inside Out show last night.

And Sean said the response had been excellent, adding: “We have literally been inundated with requests for volunteering and donations of surplus food, which is fantastic for the less fortunate people we support week in week out across South Yorkshire.”
