Fire crews pay tribute to war heroes

FIREFIGHTERS created a giant poppy logo from their life-saving equipment — and their own crew members — to pay tribute to the sacrifice of fallen war heroes.

Crews members from White and Red Watch marked the 100th Anniversary of the Royal British Legion with the large-scale tribute outside Rotherham Fire Station.

Those taking part in the unsual tribute, shown in photographer Alex Roebuck’s picture, included Ian Thompson, Matt Turton, Lucy Thorpe, Pete Robinson, Neil Fretwell, Phil Smith, Laurence Ackroyd and Jo Swarbrick.
