Fire crews in Dalton teenager swing rescue

FIREFIGHTERS responded to two acts of tomfoolery gone wrong last night.

One crew from Dearne station spent almost an hour freeing a teenager from a child’s swing.

Staff attended the play park on Magna Lane, Dalton at 7.20pm.

There they found the youth stuck in a swing, suspended off the ground.

The crew used a ladder to reach the boy and cut down the swing, which had been wrapped around its frame several times.

Once on the ground firefighters cut the teen free. Paramedics treated him on the scene, but he was not hospitalised.

Emergency workers left the scene at 8.10pm.

One crew from Rotherham station attended a paper bin fire on Doncaster Road, Thrybergh last night.

They arrived at 10.05pm, spending 20 minutes putting out the blaze, which is thought to have been started deliberately.
