Fifty new officers for Rotherham CSE team

THE team behind a huge probe into child sex exploitation in Rotherham is recruiting more than 50 new officers.

The National Crime Agency, which has more than 10,000 lines of inquiry under  Operation Stovewood, has advertised for new members of its investigation team.

All ranks from constable to inspector are needed to fill 51 posts on a two-year secondment for which they will be based at the Sheffield Major Incident Room.

An advert on the NCA website said Operation Stovewood was “without doubt the largest ever investigation into non recent child sexual exploitation (CSE) ever undertaken by law enforcement”.

It continues: “The complexity of the investigation is unparalleled. Many victims have been exploited or abused by different men, in different locations over a number of years. 

“The majority of suspects have offended against more than one victim and have been involved in the organised trafficking of victims within Rotherham or to other towns and cities in the UK. 

“This investigation provides a unique opportunity for you to bring your skills and experience in support of such a high profile, serious and complex investigation.”

Candidates will be asked to declare at interview if they have any involvement with a previous South Yorkshire Police enquiry into CSE ot links to Rotherham Borough Council.

Explaining the recruitment, it added: “We are growing our team to ensure that we continue to focus on the needs of victims and survivors and drive forward our enquiries as quickly as we can.”
