Farmer's plea after four-month-old calf goes missing

A FARMER has launched a desperate plea for the public to help find his missing Highland calf, saying: “His twin brother is so upset.”

Jason Hughes said four-month-old Eddie had been “lowing all night” after his little tan sibling Edwin bolted from a field near Bolton on Dearne and disappeared into woodland.

Jason, who farms Field House Farm off Sticking Lane, said he and his sons had been searching Manvers Wood off Bolton Road all night but without success.

He appealed to dog walkers and other people using the wood to get in touch if they spotted the young calf.

“We have informed the police but there have been no sightings yet,” dad of eight Jason said.

“It’s quite a big wood but hopefully we will be able to locate him.”

The farmer said both cows had escaped their field but Eddie had frozen amid the traffic on Sticking Lane and been caught, while Edwin made a break for the woods.

Anyone spotting Edwin should call Jason on 07976 725163.
