Energy price protest hits Dearne Valley

A PETITION calling on the Prime Minister to freeze energy prices has been launched across the Dearne Valley.

MP Caroline Flint and Don Valley Labour campaigners will be coming to Conisbrough, Edlington and Denaby Main in the next few days.

Ms Flint said: “Britain’s energy market is not working for families and businesses and certainly not here in Doncaster.

“One energy giant after another is foisting yet another price increase on consumers and people want something done.

“Our petition is asking David Cameron to stand up to the energy companies. And if he won’t, Labour will.

“He must act this winter and back Labour’s price freeze to stop these companies inflicting another winter of misery on their customers.”

Cllr Rachel Hodson, chairman of Don Valley Labour Party, said: “This campaign and this petition isn’t a one-week wonder.
