BLUEBELL WOOD CHILDRENS HOSPICE GARDEN VOLUNTEERS WANTED: From pruning to planting we need volunteers to help us make the most of our beautiful gardens. Volunteers are also needed to help in other areas of our work whether that’s bucket collecting at an event or putting your organisation skills to good use in our admin team. ANSTON BELLRINGERS: Experienced ringers welcomed Tuesday and Thursday practice sessions 7pm-9pm plus Saturday June 11 (second Saturday of each month), 10am-noon. Ringing 9.15am-9.45am before the Sunday service in St James’ Parish Church, Sheffield Road S25 5DT, contact 01909 564852.

SK58 BIRDING GROUP: Meetings Resume on September 28. Field Trips planned in the summer: Sunday, June 26, Welbeck, a traditional summer venue for SK58 Birders, a morning spent looking for raptors including Goshawk, Honey Buzzard, Osprey and Hobby. Led by Andy Hirst 07947 068125, meet at 8am in ‘The Loyal Trooper’ car park. Wednesday. July 27. 7pm Kiveton pit top, meet at the Hard Lane car park for a summer evening walk around the local reserve, led by Mick Clay 07759 531400. Sunday, July 31, Frampton RSPB Reserve, a cracking reserve which should be heaving with birds on a falling tide, led by Andy Hirst 07947 068125, meet at 7am in The Loyal Trooper car park. Monday, September 12, 10am our regular Monthly Langold Lake Walk restarts, meet at the café car park off the A60 main road, led by Geoff and Lyn Facer, 01909 563108.

CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH UK CONCERT: Was held on May 29 apart from a five minute shower, which nobody seemed to mind, the weather was good. There were over 100 people attending who all enjoyed the show in which Laura Magann of Cunard and Warner Holidays dazzled the audience with her singing and breath-taking dresses. Tevey from Fiddler on the Roof and Fagin (aka Alf), also made a brief appearance. Emma and Dawn and Mick and Mike were on top form with their selection of Broadway favourites. A big thank you to everyone, the artists, the helpers, those who spread the word, but especially the wonderful audience and those that donated to raise, with the sale of tickets included, £838.

The choir makes regular donations to Bluebell Wood Hospice, Rotherham Hospice, Dinnington Food Bank and South Anston Methodist Church. We invite you to join us and experience the joy of making a much greater sound than you could possibly make on your own and meet new friends. There is no audition, just come along and join in, you will know if you like it. If you find you fit in, becoming a member follows on naturally.
