Dickensian Christmas still going ahead say council, following weather warning.

THE borough council says tomorrow’s Dickensian Christmas event in the town centre is still going ahead, depsite rumours circulating that it had been cancelled due to a weather warning.

But the council has advised residents to keep a check on its social media and website for further updates tomorrow.

Karl Battersby, RMBC’S strategic director for environment and development dervices, said: “At this stage we have no plans to cancel tomorrow’s event but obviously we will be keeping a very close watch on the weather.

“High winds have been forecast for tomorrow afternoon and these could mean we have to reconsider our plans.

“We would ask that anyone planning on attending the event should check our social media channels and website for the most up to date information.”

The free event runs from 10.30am to 3.30pm and will include a miniature steam railway, hog roast, Victorian dancers, circus skills and much more.
