Dearne Veterans club celebrates birthday with MP John Healey

The Wentworth & Dearne MP was guest of honour as members of the Dearne Veterans Breakfast Club celebrated its first birthday.

The group has been meeting at the Snap Tin in Goldthorpe since last March and provides friendship and support to armed forces veterans.

Between 15 and 20 veterans regularly attend the group, which meets from 9.30am to 11am every other Friday.

Mr Healey said: “It’s always a pleasure to meet up with the Dearne Veterans Breakfast club — not only do you get a great breakfast, but you also get to chat and join in the camaraderie of the group.

“I know how much it means to the members to be able to meet up and talk to each other about their time in the forces and it’s that support and friendship that helps combat loneliness in the community.

“I wish the group a happy first birthday and here’s to many more in the future.”
