Daring Trish to take to the skies

A DARING daughter will take on a wing walk in support of the cancer charity which cared for her late parents.

Trish Shaw set her newest challenge to add to the £12,000 the family has raised already for Weston Park.

Mum Florence Longden was diagnosed with cancer in May 2012 and died five months later.

Trish (46) said: “During this time, Mum was treated with the utmost care and compassion.

“Nothing was ever to much trouble. The staff went above and beyond to deliver the empathy we as a family needed.

“I decided I wanted to start and raise funds for the charity in June 2013. Over the years, we have raised over £12,000 doing various event nights as well as bag-packing, the Pretty Muddy run, a bike ride from Sheffield to Skegness and a sky dive.”

Trish’s dad Douglas was diagnosed with cancer in November 2014 and again Weston Park was there to provide care until his death in April this year.

Trish, of Aston, said: “They were there to give amazing support, especially as Dad was admitted on numerous occasions.

“I wanted to carry on raising funds because I could never repay what they did for my mum and dad.

“I’m quite a fearless person and would consider doing most things, hence why I have decided to take on this massive challenge of a wing walk on June 4 at Breighton Airfield in Selby.”
