Daredevil pensioner celebrates 60 years of marriage as wife battles Alzheimer's

THRILL-seeking pensioner Peter Foster ticked off another proud achievement by reaching 60 years of marriage to his beloved wife Wendy.

Peter hit the headlines previously by taking on a wing-walk and a giant zipwire for the Alzheimer’s Society after Wendy was diagnosed with the disease.

The couple met back in 1955 at Alfred Alcock & Son in Rotherham, which Wendy joined at age 15 and Peter at 16.

“When I went on National Service, I wrote to them all and only Wendy wrote back,” said Peter,

“When I came back, I went to my own job and that was where things blossomed.”

The couple were married at Kimberworth Parish Church and had their reception at the Co-op in Rotherham.

Honeymooning with a coach tour around Europe they took in eight countries, including visiting a sun-soaked Austrian ski village.

They initially lived at Kimberworth before moving to Stag in 1972, where they lived together until Wendy moved into the Cambron House care home in Bramley.
