‘Dangerous Art’ free all summer in Rotherham

GRAFFITI sessions, puppet-building and modern art will all be on the agenda at a free, summer-long art scheme aimed at creative teenagers.

The Dangerous Art School aims to take artistic creativity away from the classroom in order to encourage a greater freedom of expression and a more free-handed exploration of artistic creativity.

Based at Rotherham Open Arts Renaissance ROAR rooms at Westgate Chambers, Westgate, the sessions start on July 20 with a signing-up event.

An array of artists will then assist in sessions that specialise in particular areas between 1pm and 4pm on every Friday afternoon between July 31 and 28.

Project leader Carol Cook said: “This is a completely new concept which should take young people away from the rules and guidelines they have experienced in art at school and allows them to really explore.

“I know there are a lot of creative young people out there who might not have liked art in school but will really enjoy the things we have to offer.”

The Dangerous Art School is being funded by the Arts Council and is completely free for interested teens aged 14 to 18.

Anyone wanting to get involved should get in touch with Carol by July 17 either by calling 0776 530 8489, emailing [email protected] or getting in touch on Twitter via @dangerartschool.
