Cult TV show films at Magna

ROTHERHAM’S Magna Science Adventure Centre is to have a starring role in a cult children’s TV series.

The cast of The Sparticle Mystery were at Magna yesterday to film an episode for the second series of the popular CBBC show.

Line producer Liz Noble, of Sparticles Productions, an independent production company which makes the programme for the BBC, said

Magna was the perfect place to film.

We are thrilled to be here. Magna is a fantastic location and an incredible space and it should look fantastic on screen,” she said.

The show tells the story of ten children who are left to fend for themselves after a science experiment goes wrong, resulting in all those of age 15 and over disappearing into a parallel universe. The second series is due to be broadcast next year.

Magna’s corporate sales director Helen Davies said the sheer size and complexity of Magna made it a versatile venue for all sorts of events.

"We had a massive concert here with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Richard Hawley just a few weeks ago; the Olympic torch relay came through the building, and we regularly host business meetings and conferences, and weddings and parties," said Helen.

"And it is very apt for us to play host to children's TV as we are a family visitor attraction with lots to do inside and out."

Magna is open daily, from 10am to 5pm with last entry at 4pm.  As well as the main indoor attraction, it has outdoor and water play areas.
