Woman and dog rescued from blaze

Three engines attended the property at Long Lane, Treeton, at about 3.20am.

They used a ladder to get the woman out of a first floor window and entered the property to save a bull terrier in the kitchen.

Two other people had already been able to leave building safely. 

A fire service spokesman said the incident was under investigation but early indications were that it was accidental, caused by a kitchen appliance.
